Windows Live Mail is a replacement for Outlook Express in Windows 7. If you use Windows Live Mail, you might notice that it can’t be minimized to the system tray. Clicking the minimize button can only minimize the program to the taskbar. Some users suggest to run Windows Live Mail in Vista compatibility mode to be able to minimize it to the system tray, but if you want to have more options while being able to minimize the program to the tray, try Windows Mail Minimizer.
Windows Mail Minimizer is a portable software designed solely for helping users to minimize Windows Live Mail to the tray area while giving some other options for quick access. The additional options are shortcuts to create a new email and send/receive email. Furthermore, it also provides command line support.

Note that Windows Mail Minimizer will open the email client you have set as default when you click the New Email shortcut. Thus, if you want to create a new email using Windows Live Mail whenever you click the shortcut, you have to configure Windows Live Mail as your default mail client.
Windows Mail Minimizer is compatible with Windows 7 and Windows Vista.
