FolderSpy is a free application for Windows that lets you monitor file changes in a folder. When someone else deletes, renames or modifies your file, the program will sound an alarm to alert you, which is useful for a computer that runs on a network. It’s impossible for us to always be in front of our computer, so the program also provides the ability to track file changes via the log files. The application can be hidden and the alarm can be disabled so that no one else knows that the file is being monitored.

While FolderSpy allows you to monitor the entire drive, it can’t be used to monitor multiple folders. Another drawback is that it can’t remember the settings so you have to re-configure the program whenever you want to start monitoring a folder. FolderSpy is portable so you just need to extract the program from the archive to run it.
