Need to mute sound in Windows 7 quickly? Forget the standard volume control. It requires you to click three times to mute sound. There is a much faster, and better, way to mute sound in Windows. Replace the standard volume control with SndVolPlus. With this utility, you can mute Windows sound in one click only.
SndVolPlus, which is portable, adds a new volume icon on the tray once you double-click the exe file. The volume icon looks just exactly the same as the original volume icon. Thus, you need to hide the original icon, which you can easily do by right-clicking the tray area, select and click the Properties, and click “Customize notification icons”.
After hiding the original volume icon, you can simply middle-click the SndVolPlus to mute sound in Windows.
In addition, you can access the volume mixer just by double-clicking the SndVolPlus volume icon.
