First open up the registry by pressing window + R together. Or, click the start menu, and click Run. Type regedit within the dialog box of the Run window.

Now, for Nero 5 and 6, you should search for the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> AHEAD -> NERO BURNING ROM ->INFO

but if you have Nero 7, then you should search this one instead:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> AHEAD -> INSTALLATION -> FAMILIES -> NERO 7 -> INFO

for anyone who has Nero 8:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> NERO -> INSTALLATION -> FAMILIES -> NERO 8 -> INFO

and finally for Nero 9:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> NERO -> SHARED -> NL9
