Recovering deleted files can be easily done. There are many free file recovery software you can use if you want to recover accidentally deleted files. Recuva is one of those freeware that has been mentioned many times for its reliability in recovering deleted files. Fast, easy to use, and updated quite often. The developer even claims that the program can recover files that have been deleted by viruses, bugs and errors. Either the deleted files are in digital camera memory cards or MP3 players, or has been emptied from recycle bin in your computer, Recuva will bring the files back.

Recuva displays a wizard the first time you run it, providing the easiest way in recovering deleted files. The first screen asks you the type of the files that you want to recover if it is a music, picture, document or video file type. The next screen asks you to specify the location of the deleted files. Then the last one tells you that Recuva is ready to start the recovering process and ask if you want to enable deep scan.

If you don’t like wizard mode, then you can turn it off through the options menu within the program. The options also lets you to restore the folder structure of the deleted files if you want to. There are also other options for you to choose as well such as enabling the display of zero byte files.

Recuva works only for Microsoft Windows Vista, XP, 2003, 2000 and 98.
