The first time you install it, Nero requires serial number. And whenever you reinstall it due to some reasons such as certain errors, Nero still requires serial number. You won’t be able to fully use the application without the required serial number. This is why you need to keep your Nero serial number carefully all the time. Still, there are chances you will lose the serial number despite how careful you are. In such a case, you’ll definitely need Nero serial number finder.

Using Nero serial number finder to find the lost serial number

Just like the name says, Nero Serial Finder is a free application officially provided by Nero to find your lost original Nero serial number. If you don’t want to go through the manual way, which means that you have to crawl the registry, then this tool is the perfect runaway for you. The only requirement to be able to use this tool is that your Nero application is still installed within your computer. You can simply find your lost Nero serial number simply by running the application. In a few seconds, the application will list the serial number it finds. You can download it here.

Manually find Nero serial number when Nero software has been uninstalled

But what if you already have uninstalled Nero? You need to reinstall it but unfortunately the serial number is lost. Then there is no other way other than searching for the serial number manually in registry. It may look a bit scary for you who rarely or even never touches the registry, but it’s truly easy.

First open up the registry by pressing window + R together. Or, click the start menu, and click Run. Type regedit within the dialog box of the Run window.

Now, for Nero 5 and 6, you should search for the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> AHEAD -> NERO BURNING ROM ->INFO

but if you have Nero 7, then you should search this one instead:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> AHEAD -> INSTALLATION -> FAMILIES -> NERO 7 -> INFO

for anyone who has Nero 8:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> NERO -> INSTALLATION -> FAMILIES -> NERO 8 -> INFO

and finally for Nero 9:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> NERO -> SHARED -> NL9

There you are. 2 ways to find your lost Nero serial number. If it is still installed, then using the Nero serial number finder tool will be much easier than finding it manually. But if it has already been uninstalled, then you’ll have to find the serial number manually.
